Application forms for NTSE to be released in August

National Talent Search Examination is a national level scholarship exam conducted by NCERT. NCERT organizes scholarship exams in two stages, stage 1 exam will be held in November, 2017 on 4, 5 and stage 2 Examination will be held on May 13th, 2018.  Application forms for scholarship exam for stage 1 exam can be filled in the month of August, 2017 till last date of applications which will be announced by each state individually. The scholarship will be given to qualifying candidates on the basis of their performances in both exams as per the merit list issued after Stage-2 exam.


Scholarship exam is conducted in two-stage process. Hence, the selection of the candidates will be done accordingly.

Stage-I: It will be organized by States/UTs on 4th and 5th November 2017. Any candidate who is studying in Class 10 can register to appear for exam.

Stage-II: The qualifying candidates of stage-1 will be permitted to appear for this stage on May 13th, 2018 which will be organized by NCERT.


All the students of Class 10 are eligible to appear in this scholarship exam. Students of both government and private schools are eligible to register themselves for the scholarship exam. A student who applies for scholarship exam can be from any state of India.


 The students applying for scholarship program have to register and fill the application for same through official link. For obtaining NTSE application forms in paper mode, candidates can either download application from official link or contact the State officer. They have to make submission of duly-filled application form to state officer after getting it attested by their principal of the school.


Important Dates for scholarship exam are-

Stage 1 exam for Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Andaman and Nicobar Islands will be held on November 4th, 2017

Stage 1 exam for other states and UT’s will be held on November 5th, 2017

Stage 2 exam for all States and UT’s will be held on May 13th, 2018


The examination will comprise of two stages. The entrance exam will be divided into two papers: Mental Ability Test and Scholastic Aptitude Test. Test paper consists of MCQs and is held in paper-pen mode. No negative marking is done in paper of Stage 1, however, in Stage 2 exam, .25 marks for every wrong answer is deducted.


The exam organizing authority will declare the admit card of National Talent Search Exam in offline mode for both the stages of the exam. The candidates have to collect their admit card from chief superintendent of the exam according to the centre allotted to the candidates.


Each of the states will declare the results of the scholarship exam Stage-1 tentatively in the month of the February 2018. For Stage-2 and the final result of the scholarship exam will be declared tentatively in the month of the November 2018.
